Judo transforms the principle of adaptability to the opponent’s strength of the old jujitsu schools into adaptability to the situation, looking for the optimal solution. Practice of this principle requires sensitivity and attention in finding strengths and weaknesses in the opponent. To do this you need mind and body ready and flexible.
Judo can be many things: a sport, a self-defense method, a way to get fit and to socialize. But the most profound sense, it is to explore with the sweat of practice, the path of cultivation, improvement and self-realization in harmony with human nature.
In Senior classes we practice judo in the three basic aspects: Shobu Ho, Combat, studying the art of attack and defense, which binds to the second aspect: Rentai Ho, Physical Education, to be intended as a physical and mental education, in order to be healthy to be useful, and prepearing the third aspect of the discipline: Sushin Ho, Application to social life.
Judo is a wonderful means for growth.
Kids are confronted continually with others. In learning technique they must help each other; then in combat, (as a way of respecting the opponent, they are required the best of themself.
Body, mind and heart are unified in action.
Through practice you aim to make the body healthy, strong and elastic. Discipline and mindfulness are required. But above all, judo is a passion!
Summer is the time when, free from school obligations, students can devote more time to their passions. In this period we organize summer camps in the city and out.
“Every year I was waiting the arrival of summer in which I could devote myself from morning to night to Judo. Days were very tiring dedicated to training, research and new experiments; I remember the moments of exhaustion due to heat and the sufferings of thirst and nights with gi (costumes) get bitten by mosquitoes, but also joy, after trying a new technique devised by myself. A feeling of nostalgia envelops me when I think of Kodokan judo that was born and formed in those moments, in summer training days.”
